Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines are no strangers to making old homes look new again, but sometimes, going back to the home’s original style is the way to go.

For the remodel of a 1960s lakehouse in Waco, Texas, the husband and wife team chose to remove more recent renovations in favor of a mid-century modern style to go back to the home’s roots.

Hokuu Designs Mid-Century Modern Coffee Table with Storage

The best furniture also has hidden storage. This mid-century modern coffee table has an oval design and sliding slatted details reminiscent of the one from the lakehouse flip, plus it’s functional for storing magazines, remotes, phone chargers, and other odds and ends. The table is just over a foot tall and nearly 4 feet wide, offering plenty of space for plants, candles, and other decor.

Sand & Stable Hertford Mid Century Upholstered Solid Wood Accent Chair

Made of kiln-dried wood, the accent chair blends mid-century modern style with a casual and coastal aesthetic as seen in Gaines’ renovation. The linen-blend upholstery is purposely distressed to add vintage charm, and a matching accent pillow is included. More than 3,000 shoppers have given the chair a five-star rating, calling it “well made and comfortable” and saying the design is “gorgeous” and “fits perfectly” with existing decor.

Wade Logan Breea Handmade Glass Table Vase

This handmade glass vase looks similar to the one sitting atop coffee table books in the lakehouse living room. The watertight vase can hold faux greenery, like the couple styled in the flip, or a mini bouquet of real or artificial flowers. One shopper said it’s “even more beautiful in person,” while another person bought three to place in different rooms in their home.  

Latitude Run Set of Two Rattan Back Bar Stools

This set of upholstered counter and bar stools resembles the chairs in the renovated kitchen, featuring faux leather seats, metal legs, and a rattan back. They are roughly 3 feet tall, making them the perfect height for most counters and bartops. Plus, they are “very easy to assemble,” per shoppers.
